Welcome to my first blog post of 2019! Looking back, I am somewhat pleased with my looks and posts from last year, but this year I vow to push my personal style even more and continue to step out of my comfort zone. There are a ton of bloggers and designers I look to for inspiration ( I will be dedicating an entire blog post to this, so stay tuned), but my style is still too “safe”. I would like to experiment with color and prints because print mixing was an essential part to who I was as a designer and it really helped elevate simple designs.
This look was a great start to my overarching goal. When I first came across this contrast turtleneck sweat dress, it was love at first sight. Not to mention, it was on sale for half price, and you all know that I cannot resist a good deal. I felt this dress was very modern and sophisticated. Another fashion goal this year is for me to mature my looks, which means goodbye crop tops and hello layering! Layering is such an essential part to any look and it is definitely something I will like to do throughout all of the seasons, as well as transitioning pieces from one season to the next. Shiny leggings are hot right now, and I love the sleek edgy look they add. This faux fur jacket from H&M has become my favorite of the season, as it adds volume and texture. Lastly, the best part of this look are the chunky boots. The chunky boot trend has stolen my heart and I don’t think I’ll be moving on from it any time soon. These boots were the perfect complement to the contrast sweater dress and I love the straps and gold hardware. I also got them on a 60% off sale, so I had to give in and buy them. Stay tuned for more of my personal style journey.
