After having a mental breakdown and feeling the affects of my mental health on my physical health, I am making a decision to free myself from the “A” word and make my heath- mental, social, physical, spiritual and emotional, a priority. If you’ve read some of my posts on Authentically Ashley, the lifestyle section on my blog, then you know about my struggle with anxiety, which is a term I will now refrain from using to describe my life. My mom gave me this idea and I actually love it. Refraining from using the “A” word to stop myself from putting a label on my life is not a symptom of denial, but rather a tactic for healing and seeing myself for more than someone who struggles from a mental disorder. Of course, I will use it in other posts mental health posts that are meant to inspire others. I truly believe what you think is what you will become and when dealing with the “A” word, it sometimes has the power to consume you, putting you in a mental place where you feel defeated and held hostage. Part of this battle has been my loss in faith, which plays a large role in feeling helpless. I have gained a new perspective on health and I am on the road to having a healthy lifestyle all around. I am ready to be in control again.

I love this. Kudos to you for being brave to talk about your battle with a mental health disorder. Say no to the”A”.
