How to keep Busy while Social Distancing

First and foremost, my heart goes out to those who are physically, emotionally and financially affected during this time. Like some people, I will spend the next few weeks in the comfort of my home, which has made me think about ways that I should avoid going stir crazy.

Tips:

  1. Read or write.
  2. Start a journal.
  3. Listen to a podcast or playlist.
  4. Find a hobby. This will keep you busy most of the time and make sure it is something that really interests you and will keep you busy most of the time. You want your hobby to be something that is stress-free for the most part and will keep your spirits up. This is the perfect time to start whatever you have been putting off because you “didn’t have enough time” and have been procrastinating.
  5. Start a blog.
  6. Make a Youtube channel.
  7. Write a business plan.
  8. Get a jump start on spring cleaning. It’s never too early to clean and cultivate your space, especially during a time like this where we are facing serious health scares. In addition to disinfecting and doing deep cleans, this is also a perfect time to:
  9. Catch up on laundry.
  10. Clean out your closet, pantry, basement or anything else you have been holding off because it is “too time consuming”. Having consecutive days off gives you time to space out large tasks. Purging is also extremely therapeutic to some and can help soothe anxiety.
  11. Find alternative ways to stay social. Social distancing in the age of modern technology and social media makes it easy to stay in touch and communicate with others.
  12. Video chat or Facetime loved ones.
  13. Go live on social media and start a conversation if you’re an extrovert and feel like you’re going stir crazy.
  14. Play board/video games.
  15. Binge watch a show on Netflix.
  16. Cook or bake.
  17. Do crafts. Use Pinterest for inspiration.
  18. Practice self-care: Do a face mask. Paint your nails. Take a bubble bath. Try something new with your hair.
  19. Workout.
  20. Learn a new skill or language. Google is your new bff.
