I have recently come to the conclusion that I am not quite plus size at most stores, yet I am larger that the average sizes. This has made shopping a bit difficult for me and I now see that midsize fashion is a huge white space in the fashion industry. A lot of the times, the sizes 0X or XL are sold out and all that are left are 1X-3X. Even the 0X is a little too big for me in certain areas. For example, this chic grid dress I bought from Forever 21 is a 0X, but the bust needs to be altered to fit my top appropriately. I have a fashion design background, so making alterations is not an issue for me. However, who doesn’t want their new clothes to fit like a glove?!
These past few years, I have put on about forty pounds and I am actually very confident and happy being this new size. But, shopping has made me feel that I need to either gain or lose weight so that I can find more variety and selection in my size, which is about a 12-14. Coming to this realization has made me very determined to help women who have this same struggle as me. I have been researching midsize bloggers for inspiration on both looks and stores to shop. I have also started hash-tagging my posts “midsize blogger” so that I can hopefully reach this niche. Before, my blog and style was dedicated to affordable fashion and balling on a budget. Now I see I have another opportunity to build my brand on, which I am very excited for. Stay tuned for more posts about this topic, as well as trends and stores to shop to get more bang for your buck!
