Trusting Your Own Process

IMG_8848IMG_8842I wore this look to an interview and initially planned on writing about it, but the interview itself is what inspired this post. If there is one thing I have learned so far in 2019, it is to trust my own timing and embrace the process. I have always been extremely future-focused and that can often cause me to forget that I am accomplishing more than I ever thought I could in my present life. It is hard to stop and give yourself a pat on the back when you have tunnel vision and feel like you can be doing more to reach your goals. I listened to an amazing podcast by one of my good friends, Fly, titled “This Isn’t Sunday Dinner”, where she mentions that your life and decision-making are not up for family discussion. If you tend to discuss your goals with people who do not see your vision, click the link and listen to her podcast- I promise it will give you a new inspirational perspective. This is something I have allowed myself to become victim to my entire life. My anxiety can cause me to sometimes seek validation from others to give me a sense of comfort and support. However, not everyone is bound to see things from a perspective that differs from their own and may not be able to give you validation because they are not in your shoes and they have a completely different mentality.

Lately, I have been pushing myself personally and professionally. I have made some recent decisions that I have not told close friends and family about because I want to break my bad habit of seeking validation from others. This has given me a newfound sense of independence and empowerment. My decision-making now makes me feel confident and secure, which has significantly impacted my outlook on my process. For once, my anxiety is not taking over my excitement and I cannot wait to see what this next chapter will bring. I vow to give myself more credit and celebrate my wins, while understanding that losses are not losses- they are lessons. Stay tuned for a separate post with details about this killer affordable look!
